Water sports
Water sports have existed since prehistoric times. Swimming
is a very basic activity, known to most all cultures. With the advancements
in our technology have also come a variety of other options for enjoying
the water. Today we can snorkel and engage in diving from planks as
well as deep within the ocean. We now even enjoy underwater hockey and
underwater photography.
The water activities which this Web site is concerned with are performed
on the surface. There are two main categories that surface water sports
fall under. The first is towed water sports, where participants are
towed behind a boat. These include discing, skiing, skurfing, wakeboarding,
towed hydrofoiling and tubing.
The second category of water sports is where the participant relies
on natural forces for propulsion. These include bodyboarding, surfing,
windsurfing, kite surfing, and hydrofoil sailing.
With all surface water sports it is very important to have a good life
preserver. One that fits well with plenty of buckles is ideal.
