Wake board rope
Wakeboard rope is stiffer than rope used for water skiing.
It comes in two different types:
• Low stretch: These are usually made of polyethylene. They will
stretch around one percent.
• No stretch: These are constructed from spectra material and
are very strong. This type of rope is ideal for wakeboarding in every
situation.
The general length for wakeboard rope is between 60 and 70 feet long.
Many ropes are adjustable to allow for different length preferences.
Shorter ropes will keep the wakeboarder in a narrower section of the
wake. This causes less height while jumping. Longer ropes allow for
more airtime and greater jumps as a result. It is best to start off
with a shorter length of rope until you are more comfortable.
Wakeboard rope handles are wider than water ski handles. Their designs
tend to be more specialized to make tricks easier. Usually, the handle
will have an additional rope braid or a smaller handle built into the
rope to allow for a stronger grip. To prevent sinking, wakeboard rope
handles often have neoprene foam floats attached.
