Wake board gear

Wakeboard gear is meant to deal with an active sport, but that doesn’t mean you should treat it roughly. Taking good care of all your equipment will prolong its life and keep it looking sleek. Simple, quick maintenance before and after each use can prevent bigger issues from developing in the future. Making the right storage choices is also an important part of gear maintenance.

Tips for day-to-day care:
• Check the nuts and bolts of your board before and after each session to make sure that everything is secure.
• Also check the screws on your wakeboard tower and ensure that everything is tightened.
• After each outing check the bottom of your wakeboard for any dents or dings which may require repair.
• Rinse off all your wakeboard gear after each use with freshwater, especially if you’ve been riding in saltwater as salt speeds up the corrosion process.
• Fasten your rope to your tower in different ways and use the opposite end from time to time to rotate tension spots.
• Avoid getting dirt on your rope because the particles will weaken rope fibers.

Storage tips:
• All wakeboard gear should be stored out of sunlight when not in use to prevent warping and discoloration.
• Rinse off your equipment and let it fully dry before storing it.
• Pay special attention to the storage of your drysuits and wetsuits. Stuffing them with newspaper before long-term storage will prevent harsh creases.
• Store wakeboards horizontally and out of harm’s way.
• If possible, store your wakeboard in the padded case in which it came. If this is not possible, wrap it in a cloth or blanket for protection.
• Wrap up wakeboarding rope in the shape of a figure eight or keep it on a reel to prevent kinking.
